Increasing and Improving Information Access to Society

Under a World Bank funded project, SKILLS designed and implemented a web based Library Management System for the Department of Census & Statistics (DCS) of Sri Lanka

  • Improved the efficiency of the Library
  • Automated the functions of the Library

Due to its success, it is now being replicated at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka.

Working with ICTA to promote English & IT

Skills International was engaged by ICTA to build capacity amongst Nenasala Operators & Owners to implement the “English e-Learning-Learn English for Nenasala” program developed by ICTA. The project was implemented in the Northern & Eastern Province of Sri Lanka covering over 80 Nenasalas.


An interactive e-learning and evaluation system “Learn English” for a multi-skill level English teaching curriculum, including lessons, exercises, drills, and tests for use by learners of English as a second language developed by ICTA. The system consists of animated multimedia learning elements, video and audio with minimal text usage. It can be used independently for self learning or with a teacher’s guidance for blended learning. The content has been contextualized to the local culture and local situations and uses rich video based learning methods. Lessons are in line with the GCE Advanced Level General English syllabus and are highly suited to all young adults.
